Consumer Product disposal

According to Aschemann-Witzel et al., (2015) product disposal accounts for 75 percent of the environmental pollution. Biodegradable products have fewer impacts to the environment because they break down. However, this product is different with the various impacts to the environment and different time to fully decompose. Food products are best decomposed because they are easily broken down, therefore, becoming the best with the advanced technologies most of the food products have preservatives which make them stay for long without decomposing hence becoming harmful to the environment (Aschemann-Witzel et al., 2015). Most of this biodegradable products if not properly decomposed they may bring airborne diseases and outspread of dangerous insects. If these products are disposed of on the ground, they may have chemicals which may leach into the ground. Therefore, the groundwater which people may take becomes harmful and kill marine animals like fish. Watering foods which people consume also becomes dangerous which may cause an outbreak of diseases.

Non-degradable products consume a third of waste products in the United States according. However, this product is hard to breakdown by nature and cannot be decomposed by air, moisture, soil and climate. Therefore, they are recommended to be recycled whenever possible. Apart from plastic materials, dangerous chemicals and toxins are also classified as non-biodegradable. Recycling products like metals, plastics and glass save land filling space therefore when disposed they recycled back and manufactured new products. However, when recycled, they conserve energy and reduce global climate change. Some products like plastics and rubber can also be burned to generate energy through incineration process this reducing the demand for non-renewable energy to petroleum and coal. Non-biodegradable waste can also be disposed of through landfills were the product are stored in a carefully are in the prevention of contamination from waste products. Landfill disposal helps in reduction of odor and pest.

Examples related to Consumer Product disposal

Aschemann-Witzel et al., (2015) article presents an example of food waste as a form of consumer product disposal which influences adverse economic, environmental and social effects. According to the article, food waste as a product is affected by consumer perceptions and behaviors which also shapes their market condition. The article presents government actions, societal stakeholders, and retailers as some of the key aspects that can reduce consumer-related product waste such as food. However, there must be synergistic activities among all the parties involved since they interact with each other. Addressing product waste can help in promoting resource-efficient production as well as ensuring consumers has a role in addressing product waste and sustainable production.

According to Aschemann-Witzel et al., (2015), food waste has been known as one of the courses of negative environmental, economic and social effects. In most developed countries consumers are known as one of the biggest sources of food wastage. According to statistic there are almost 9,278 tons of food waste everyday were almost percent is food waste however there are this is reducing due to the use of biodegradable programs which is used to develop gasses and organic contents.
